NYSE and SIFMA-US holiday status, July 3, 2026
Published 2026-07-03 · Status: Fixed
For part of the day on Friday, July 3, 2026, the API returned an incorrect
status for the NYSE,
AMEX,
NASDAQ, and
SIFMA-US calendars.
Queries for that date returned early_close
when the correct status is full_close —
those markets were fully closed, not on a shortened session.
Independence Day (July 4, 2026) falls on a Saturday this year. When that happens, NYSE and SIFMA-US observe the holiday on the preceding Friday (July 3) as a full market closure, and the early-close session shifts back to Thursday, July 2. Our 2026 holiday data had not accounted for that weekend shift.
We found and corrected the same class of error for December 24, 2027: Christmas Day 2027 also falls on a Saturday, so it is observed Friday, December 24, 2027 as a full closure, with the early close shifting back to Thursday, December 23, 2027.
| Date | Calendars | Status | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-07-02 (Thu) | NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, SIFMA-US | early_close | Day before Independence Day (observed) |
| 2026-07-03 (Fri) | NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, SIFMA-US | full_close | Independence Day observed — Jul 4 falls on Saturday |
| 2027-12-23 (Thu) | NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, SIFMA-US | early_close | Day before Christmas (observed) |
| 2027-12-24 (Fri) | NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, SIFMA-US | full_close | Christmas Day observed — Dec 25 falls on Saturday |
Anyone who queried day_status,
is_holiday_verbose, or
is_early_close for
NYSE,
AMEX,
NASDAQ, or
SIFMA-US for July 3, 2026 before the
fix was deployed may have received an incorrect answer. No other calendars or dates were affected by
this incident. We're sorry for the inconvenience if this affected you.
